Practice
Conan has a broad practice, with particular emphasis on personal injuries and criminal litigation. He is currently a member of the Personal Injuries Committee of the Hong Kong Bar Association.
On the civil side, Conan regularly renders written advice in personal injuries and employees’ compensation cases. He has also worked on cases involving contractual, insurance, land and commercial disputes.
On the criminal side, Conan has experience in a wide range of cases, including traffic, sexual, violent, dishonesty offences as well as departmental summonses.
Conan’s practice covers trial and appellate advocacy as well as advisory work.
Conan is fluent in English, Cantonese and Mandarin.

Personal Injuries and Employees’ Compensation
JATINDER SINGH v. CHEUNG LIT KAM; AND THE EMPLOYEES COMPENSATION ASSISTANCE FUND BOARD [2024] HKDC 1827; DCEC 480/2020: acted for the Employees Compensation Assistance Fund Board in disputing both liability and quantum. The Applicant’s case was dismissed by the Court on liability.
AMJAD-UL-MAHMOOD v. PROFIT HILL INTERNATIONAL HOLDINGS LTD AND ANOTHER, DCPI 534/2017 (with Mr Victor Gidwani):
[2023] HKDC 347: acted for the 1st defendant (employer) in successfully defending the claim on liability.
[2023] HKDC 715: successfully sought contribution against the 2nd defendant for the employees’ compensation paid and for the EC costs incurred. The Court accepted that the EC costs were not capped by the common law damages under the proviso of s.25(1)(b) of the Employees’ Compensation Ordinance (case reported in [2023] 3 HKLRD 109).

Criminal
HKSAR v. 中國路橋工程有限責任公司and Others, [2023] HKCFI 3070; HCMA 158/2022 (with Mr Lawrence Hui): acted for the defendants in an industrial summons case where the prosecution appealed on a whether Regulation 48 of the Construction Sites (Safety) Regulations (Cap. 59I) required construction workers to fasten the chinstraps while wearing safety helmets.
HKSAR v. LEIGHTON CONTRACTORS (ASIA) LIMITED and CHINA STATE CONSTRUTION ENGINEERING (HK) LIMITED, ESS 45065-6/2021 (with Mr Adrian Halkes): acted for the defendants, who were the appointed contractors of the Shatin to Central Link construction site. The defendants were prosecuted because larvae and pupae of mosquito were found in the site. Both defendants were acquitted.
HKSAR v. YUEN, KTCC 401/2024: acted for the defendant who was acquitted of taking conveyance without authority, driving without a licence, using a motor vehicle without 3rd party insurance, and careless driving.
HKSAR v. LEUNG, KTCC 1025/2024: acted for the defendant who was acquitted of indecent assault.
HKSAR v. CHIU, KCS 4480/2021: acted for the defendant who was acquitted of careless driving.
HKSAR v. SINGH, KCCC 123/2021 (with Mr Adrian Halkes): acted for the defendant who was acquitted of failure to provide breath specimen.
