Conan has a broad practice, with particular emphasis on personal injuries and criminal litigation. He is currently a member of the Personal Injuries Committee of the Hong Kong Bar Association.

On the civil side, Conan regularly renders written advice in personal injuries and employees’ compensation cases. He has also worked on cases involving contractual, insurance, land and commercial disputes.

On the criminal side, Conan has experience in a wide range of cases, including traffic, sexual, violent, dishonesty offences as well as departmental summonses.

Conan’s practice covers trial and appellate advocacy as well as advisory work.

Conan is fluent in English, Cantonese and Mandarin.

Personal Injuries and Employees’ Compensation


[2023] HKDC 347: acted for the 1st defendant (employer) in successfully defending the claim on liability.

[2023] HKDC 715: successfully sought contribution against the 2nd defendant for the employees’ compensation paid and for the EC costs incurred. The Court accepted that the EC costs were not capped by the common law damages under the proviso of s.25(1)(b) of the Employees’ Compensation Ordinance (case reported in [2023] 3 HKLRD 109).

LIU WENLIANG v. LEUNG KWOK HUNG AND ANOTHER [2022] HKDC 479; DCPI 2630/2019: acted for the Employees Compensation Assistance Fund Board.

HOSSAIN MOHAMMED SAJIB v. CHUEN KEE ENVIRONMENTAL RESOURCES RECYCLE (HONG KONG) LIMITED (in Liquidation) AND ANOTHER [2020] HKDC 1200; DCEC 2689/2016 (with Mr Patrick Lim): acted for the Employees Compensation Assistance Fund Board in disputing both liability and quantum.

ALE THAK PRASAD v. TSANG CHIN KEUNG AND ANOTHER [2021] HKCFI 1979; HCPI 579/2012: Acted for the defendants in successfully varying the costs order nisi.

MOK PUI CHE the Administratrix of the estate of IP KING TONG, deceased v. KWOK HING ENGINEERING CO (a firm) AND ANOTHER [2021] HKDC 1026; DCPI 3725/2019 (with Mr Patrick Lim): acted for the plaintiff in a fatal accident case.

MOHAMMAD RAFIQ v. KIN HONG TRANSPORTATION CO LTD [2021] HKDC 1109; DCEC 2994/2018 (with Mr Patrick Lim): acted for the applicant in an employees’ compensation case.


HKSAR v. LEIGHTON CONTRACTORS (ASIA) LIMITED and CHINA STATE CONSTRUTION ENGINEERING (HK) LIMITED, ESS 45065-6/2021 (with Mr Adrian Halkes): acted for the defendants, who were the appointed contractors of the Shatin to Central Link construction site. The defendants were prosecuted because larvae and pupae of mosquito were found in the site. Both defendants were acquitted.

HKSAR v. 中國路橋工程有限責任公司and Others, TMS 1302-1304/2019 (with Mr Lawrence Hui): acted for the defendants in an industrial summons case where the prosecution sought to review the magistrate’s verdict. The Court upheld the acquittals of all the defendants.

HKSAR v. CHIU, KCS 4480/2021: acted for the defendant who was acquitted of careless driving.

HKSAR v. SINGH, KCCC 123/2021 (with Mr Adrian Halkes): acted for the defendant who was acquitted of failure to provide breath specimen.

LAU CHI HANG, the Administrator of the Estate of Yung Yim Hing, Deceased v. LEE CHING WO [2023] HKDC 1203; DCCJ 5434/2020: acted for the defendant in successfully opposing a $3 million claim for misappropriation of funds and breach of trust.

HUI CHAU HING AND ANOTHER v. HUI CHI SUM WATER D. AND OTHERS [2021] HKCFI 205; HCMP 1605/2020 (with Mr Lawrence Hui): acted for the petitioners in resisting a striking out application.
