PRACTICE

Owen joined Liberty Chambers after serving his pupillage at Liberty Chambers, Cheng Huan SC’s Chambers and Chambers of Ronny Wong SC. He has a solid and busy practice of commercial civil and criminal matters. He is fluent in Cantonese, English and Putonghua.

In the civil span, he is frequently instructed to deal with cases concerning commercial mortgages, large scale loans, land, building management, trusts, contract, company related and family matters.

On the criminal side, he secured numerous acquittals, offering no evidence by the Prosecution and submitting no case to answer in cases concerning triad, wounding and assault, dangerous weapons, drugs, fraud, criminal damage, and driving related offences and summons.

Regarding disciplinary and administrative actions, he possesses experience in dealing with and advising proceedings concerning Bar Disciplinary Tribunal, Appeal Panel of the Estate Agents Authority, Education Bureau, Stamp Duty and police internal disciplinary matters. He provides concrete advice to clients regarding the way forward of the case proceedings.

Additionally, he has been appointed as a part-time lecturer in School of Continuing and Professional Education (SCOPE), City University of Hong Kong. In his appointment, he solely provides legal courses and training to Immigration Officers and Immigration Assistants of the Immigration Department.

Throughout his years of practice, each and every case and client remain equally important to Owen.

嘉福閣業主立案法團 訴 韓翠雲 LDBM 89/2019 (represented the Respondent who was the past chairlady of the management committee of the Applicant concerning an allegedly illegal fund movement and management issues. The claim was discontinued eventually.)

Havenport Fixed Maturity Fund SPC v Teng Hong Innovative Company Limited and Ors HCMP 1381/2020 and HCMP 1382/2020 (represented the Plaintiff for a series of commercial mortgages claims of approximately HK$450 million in total.)

Bank of China (Hong Kong) Limited v HK Petroleum Group Limited & Ors HCMP 1157/2021 (represented certain Defendants to defend a commercial mortgage claim of approximately HK$125 million.)
