Practice

Lawrence joined Chambers in 2017 and is developing a broad practice with an emphasis on criminal law. He was awarded the Patrick Yu Memorial Scholarship by the Hong Kong Bar Association in 2022. He has been recognised by the Legal 500 (2023) as a “Rising Star” under the category of “Regulatory, Investigations and Crime”.

On the criminal side, Lawrence has defended clients in cases involving dishonesty offences, sexual offences, organized crimes, offences against persons, traffic offences as well as departmental summons. He is also regularly instructed to prosecute for the Department of Justice as fiat counsel.

On the civil side, Lawrence has experience in cases involving areas such as land, employment, defamation, insolvency and winding up, personal injuries and general commercial. He also has experience in applying for urgent injunctions.

Apart from court appearances, Lawrence has represented professional clients in disciplinary investigations and proceedings as well as restoration of licence hearing carried out by regulatory bodies including the Estate Agents Authority, the Nursing Council of Hong Kong and the Insurance Authority. He is also regularly instructed by the Estate Agents Authority to conduct disciplinary proceedings against its members.
